Title: Looking for info on this drill press
Post by: FrankLee on May 05, 2011, 08:25:04 AM
Anyone recognize this drill press? There is a brass plate on the post just above the table, but it has no real info.
Unfortunately, it looks a little modified to hold the motor, but i's old and it works great. A friend is selling it.

What's funky about the motor setup. It is supposed to be variable speed drive, the shaft the motor is mounted on was the driven shaft, the and, and where the pully is now, both had  friction pieces, several companies used the same basic design to produce variable speed drill presses.

The hint is the weird rectangular table with the drip edge.

The drill is a W.F. Barnes No 0 Drill
(1900 or older)

Thanks very much for the time spent looking this up. The original was very nice. Not sure how much he's going to get for that bastardized one.

Thanks.
