Title: MVWC 2017 Commemorative Wrench
Post by: mikeswrenches on January 12, 2018, 08:26:04 AM
This is the latest commemorative wrench from the Missouri Valley Wrench Club, and the one I like the best. Everett has done a great job on all the previous editions, and this one certainly carries on that tradition. Thanks Everett for doing these for us. Length is 5 3/4 inches.

Rather than copy Everett's description, I just took a picture...no typos that way.

Yes, I to like this years, but all other year wrenches are very good.

just another reason why wrench guys should join the MVWC, between the wrenches available to members, the dues
are reasonable for the pleasure of receiving the news letters that Stan does.

Bill and Coolford, and anyone else, it’s never too late. And if you join real soon, you should still be able to get one of these wrenches. Price is $15 shipped and is only available to MVWC members. I’m pretty sure Stan has some left since mine is no. 53 of the 100 that were made . Dues are only $20 so you can’t miss. Send your dues money to:

Clyde Ketelsen treas.
10909 Ideal Ave. North
Grant, MN 55115-1399

Contact Stan for the wrench. mvwcnews@gmail.com

Everett had made 100 of them, if you went to the fall meet, you received one, after the fall meet, they sell the rest to club members that didn't get to the meeting. one to a customer.

I had joined when Stan's Mom & Dad were doing the news letter many moons ago. great family.

Stan chimes in -- as of this morning (my timepiece says 12:14 a.m.) there are 18 "unclaimed" 2017 miniatures.

As to the newsletter -- I have a unique perspective on it since I've been the editor since 2000.  I took it on because I figured it would be good to have a hobby in "retirement"  & I knew a bit about wrench collecting & wrenches due to dad's interest.  I could never have imagined that taking on the newsletter would lead into patent research, DATAMP participation, etc. & that so many research skills I learned as a librarian would be so valuable in this endeavor.

One major challenge for the newsletter is locating information in the mass of back issues.  I maintain a personal "index" of sorts that exists as an Open Office spreadsheet  with over 30 data "columns" (one column tracks appearances in the MVWC Newsletters -- other columns track patent numbers, appearances in books, sales results, etc. )   and currently in excess of 34,000 "rows."  At the beginning it was tracking individual sales from auction lots, eBay, etc.  so there is massive duplication of data.  This mass can be searched by "character string" which could be the digits of a patent number,  an inventor's name,  or the string of numbers on the upper corners of MVWC Newsletter pages that uniquely identify each page.    This spreadsheet is no where near complete in tracking information in past MVWC Newsletter pages, but  I keep working on it.   I also have scribbled notes in my personal copy of the MVWC Newsletter back issues.

Probably an obvious observation, but I will add it.  Putting all the information into MicroSoft One Note would allow you to search on any word or phrase.

Or perhaps better yet, I could put it on my site so everyone could benefit!
