Title: Plumb bob cutting tool?
Post by: akenney1 on June 12, 2018, 10:01:10 AM
Came across this tool, no idea what it is. It has a wooden handle with what looks like a brass plumb bob with a knife attached to it. It has a makers mark that is an upper case B inside a circle Any ideas?

Not a plumb bob.  I recognize it as a tool of a trade, but can't now remember which one.  Someone will be along who's smarter than I am (not hard to find) any minute.

Cork cutter sharpener, not a cork cutter. For sharpening the round brass cork cutters. The steel blade is held against the cutting edge of the brass cork cutter as you turn the cutter keeping the cutter held onto the brass taper.

You are correct. I didn't state it just right.

Very neat.   Without the blade I would have put it down as a dibble.
