Post by: p_toad on November 01, 2019, 02:32:07 PM
found recently - interesting pieces and i love those channellocks with the smooth jaws.  i have a newer pair with the blue plastic on the handles.   will post some close-ups of the markings.

Love the end nippers with the Popeye "shoulders" - wonder what they do for the tool?

I've got one pipe wrench with the not-quite-45-degree offset to the jaws.  I'm not sure what benefit the offset provides, but it is a nice wrench.

Crescent B F = Crescent Belt Fastener ( riveted splice joints for leather / balata drive belts )  == these have been in the MVWC Newsletter a couple of times over the years. Most of  the trade journal ads show the fastener plates and rivets - I have a 1930 hardware catalog that shows the nippers as well.

Thanks for the extra into on those nippers.   I did a quick lookup but didn't find much.   Those offset pipe wrenches are nice when you don't have a clear shot at what you are trying to turn.   These two were in pretty good condition.

The black and orange handled pliers by T&B are crimpers for crimp on wire terminals, fork, ring and spade style connectors.

And electrician grade at that.

All nice tools.  Never seen smooth jaw Channellock type pliers.  I can imagine they would be practical on objects that would be damaged by jaw teeth. I have one of those T&B crimping plier/cutter, very good crimper and cutter, lots of leverage.

I have a pair of the Channel Lock smooth jaw pliers. I use them when working on plumbing fittings. They are kind to chrome plated plumbing fixtures and plastic plumbing fixtures.
