Title: Pyro-Matic----what is it??
Post by: coolford on January 13, 2021, 02:38:49 PM
Pyro-matic, Pat pend is what is on the small item that slides up and down the shaft.  It has a small hole in it so the shaft is visible.  The three at the top are steel, the other three are brass. I looked up Pyro-Matic and found out they make thermocouples and associated items, but none of their products look like these items.  These were in an auction box lot about 10 years ago and have been hiding in my shop ever since.

Can't help, but I read Pyro-matic and think to myself, "Do we really want to market stuff to people with that tendency?"

Until I googled it I thought it might relate to "fire in the hole."

I can't tell from the pic, but they are similar shape to a thermal cut out on electric furnace elements. These  burn out if the  thermal overload fails after the blower has failed. Wired in series with the electric element. It's been 20 years since I've replaced  some, but they do look familiar.

no idea, but they're still in business so you might email them a better picture and see if they will identify it for you???

Reminds me of the float rod on the side of the old sump pump that pop had in the basement when I was a kid
