Warden Lake in Hardy County WV.
Good fishing, no gas engines or swimming allowed.
A few people have tried swimming across it but didn't make it.
The divers said they would never go down there again because
of the size of the fish they saw. I know the state record carp
was caught from there but some say catfish are large as a man.

> some say catfish are large as a man.

A good reason not to toss the McDonalds wrapper over the side, some catfish might just start wondering if there isn't something tastier in the boat....

Ah, Yes, Hardy Co. West Virginia.

My father used to make the trek their every spring to hunt turkeys with two of his best friends. One passed away a few years ago, and since the camp used was his family camp, they no longer go each spring. I had the privilege of going back in the early 2000's with them. Good times, no turkey for me, but a trip I'll always remember. The camp was at the base of a mountain, and the National Forest was a short walk up the hill.

Mostly, I remember it was quicker to go into Virginia (about 3 miles) for a soda, then back to the nearest town in WV )about 7 miles if I remember correctly.

Good times. You are fortunate to live in such a beautiful part of our great State!!

I think it could be a pond in my backyard and the "Oh, there are fish bigger then you in there"  would hold true to the myths. However, when it comes to carp.....  those things are big and quite scary.....  I guess because of those orange "sucker lips".  Although, if I owned  McDonalds...... probably should like those carp, because they thrive off of trash on the bottom of the water.... cheers to McDonald wrappers!...  don't they?  (could be wrong.....  wouldn't be the first time). That huge catfish story is as old as time....  but, huge, man eating carp, scare me!!!!  (I'm kidding, I don't think they could eat me.... could they?!)
Anyhow, after my rant  (which you will get used to after a while)...  how is the fishing there?   I've been fishing in VA at Smith Mountain Lake.......  I think I'd be happy for a carp to jump out of the water and into my boat!  It would be more action than I've seen this year!
Cheers,
bird.
