another early Black & Decker drill "no.1 Screwdriver"
« on: May 18, 2014, 08:44:44 AM »
Picked up another early B&D drill, this one with 3 patent dates 1924 being last. My question on this is what is the piece directly under the name plate. Looks like I'm missing something. I can't find any pics online, surprisingly couldn't find any like it on Ebay, what can you guys tell me about this?

I'd almost bet you have a drill motor with a forward/reverse switch.  What you don't have is the handle that flips the switch.

See patent 1832101 ....
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.
