Ahh, tool folks!
« on: June 02, 2014, 01:06:33 AM »
Hello all,  I'm mostly an old woodworking handtool using-collector, though I can't resist other tools on occasion — anything from hay knives to leatherworking tools, to a "I don't know what it is so I'd better get it" whatsis.  It's hard to stump me.  Here in the mountains of ID cabinet-maker's pickings are fairly slim, so I often content myself with from one to a boxfull of rusty, mistreated/neglected junk-to-gems.
I just turned 69 and have been bent this way since I watched my maternal grandfather work in his basement shop.  I was about 5 or so when he invited me down there, gave me my first pocket knife and taught me how to sharpen it.  That was a two-blader and now I always carry a stockman's pattern, keeping one blade ready for surgery at any time.
Hmm…, anything else anyone wants to know, just ask.   *he grins*
Cheers.

Hi and welcome from the suburbs of Chicago :)
And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
