Apology
« on: September 02, 2014, 12:37:59 PM »
I have been laid up for the last week or so, and not paying enough attention to Tool Talk. The problems of getting older, I guess.
Seems to happen that whenever I take some vacation days, something happens to spoil the time off! My right knee has swollen, is very painful, and I am unable to walk or drive.
Will see an orthopedic surgeon tomorrow.
Not looking for sympathy, just reporting. Many people, even right here on Tool Talk, have more severe health problems than I have.

Good luck with the knee! get a few opinions. I have them too!
The last x-rays  the new guy looked at well, left  he said damn.... then the right was a holy-chit you weren't kidding about them being worn out.
Really depends on what is wrong with yours, my cousin could not stand the synvisc injections, they didn't bother me at all/ Only problem is it don't stay where they put it. Those surgeons get paid good money to do surgery!
I should have my knees done so it won't be such a problem with the shoulders. This growing old ain't for sissies!!! but the options are limited.

Noel,  yes, get more than one opinion.

good luck with your decision.

this reminds me of a guy that went to the doctor for a bad knee,
the doc told him it was old age,
the guy said to the doc, " but how can that be the problem ?  my other
knee is the same age and it is ok ?"

so do not think it is old age, young kids also have knee problems too.

you are still young, best wishes.

Just returned from the knee doctor/Good news. bad news.
The problem is not from arthritis, so no knee replacement!
The swelling was blood collecting above the joint. He drained out 370 ccs of blood! This indicates a torn ligament or such.
MRI in the next few days to see what is next.

MRI done- Now wait to see results.
Doc probably won't see them until Monday, so I am  going back to work Sunday night, had enough sitting around the house.

Looks like it might be a meniscus tear.
