A miniature (Hi Ralph )
« on: December 22, 2014, 05:15:58 PM »
Hi Guys
Well I haven't done much this year. Its been well, its been some year.
So I did at least finally make something. A guy just has to once in a while.

My friend asked me to make her one. I said, "do you realize what you're asking?"
That was a year ago, at least.
  But...................

Its hollywood brass and string, in case you wondered.
  yours Scott

Oh, my goodness, Scott!!!  That is a beauty - and a diversion from the usual - I mean Rare
Proof that there is no stopping the creative mind.

I am constantly in search of new projects and often find nothing new in my mind and end up creating another version of a project I've done before.
But such a project as yours never even crossed my mind.  I won't try one such; I don't know enough about it to do it justice as you have done.
But I am inspired to think "out of the box".  I realize that my box has been so narrow that I tend to stick with what I know with boredom adnausem within my tiny space.

Thank you for helping me realize that there is great depth beyond the horizon that I can see.

Look out! You have ignited a whole hew flame in me.  I've just realized that there are no limits to creativity.   Ralph

I have to ask? What the heck is Hollywood Brass.

Believe it or not, there is an actual wood called holly.  A big tree, not the little bushes.
It is the closest wood to ivory in the tree kingdom.  Nearly snow white.
It is traditionally used as string inlay, to great effect.

Oh Ralph, thank you so much for your kind words. You have no idea what it means to me, coming from you. I know its not such a big or detailed project, but its different and because someone really wanted it?

(someone that I love, who seriously depends on my emotional support, and yet she supports many others coming after her.....)

Because I feel she deserves it?
This is what makes it art, to me.

Its already more than just the object itself.
It may bolster my community, from underneath the surface.

Support the ones who support many more.
                yours Scott

That's awesome, Scott.  I always enjoy seeing your work.

There are two Holly trees in my yard - both about 70' tall.  I'd be happy to take a picture if interested.  I've had to cut smaller Holly trees.  Had to cut several today working on fence line.  They do have a  beautiful white wood.
"FORGED IN THE USA" myself.  Be good to your tools!

Great work Scott. Your skills are very well versed.
And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
