18" Winchester Pipe Wrench
« on: March 21, 2015, 06:01:20 PM »
This seems to be the real deal according to this site http://www.realorrepro.com/article/Winchester-Tools-fake-and-forged-marks-mismatched-pieces.
I'm not to thrilled with the shiny crap all over it but it will do.

Looks like the real deal to me.  Nice find.  The shiny crap will probably come of with either acetone or lacquer thinner.

Interesting stuff on the web link you posted. I didn't realize how easy it would be to produce forgeries, Winchester or otherwise. Good to know.
My friends call me Bob. My wife calls me a lot worse.

The wrench that won the West. I can imagine the Duke flagging down a stagecoach while waving a Stillson pipe wrench.

Good info on fakes. I had a Winchester pipe wrench and after reading your post I wanted to check it for authenticity. Unfortunately I can't find it. Maybe I sold it. There is a price for not being organized.
