Wondering how the folks here from Texas are weathering the weather down there?  Everybody alright?

Lots of rain here south of Houston, but no flooding. Other areas north of here toward Ft Worth and Dallas, west to San Antonio and Austin are hit hard.
Lauver is sorta out toward Austin, perhaps he will check in.

Sorta relative posted a pic on face book of a flooded El Dorado Blvd  in Clear Lake. We had an apartment there back in the early 80's
Never saw the road flood while I was there.
But I remember the locals telling me once the bayous are full, the flat areas there flood pretty quick.

Drove into Dallas today, and the creeks and rivers flowing full.
Our lakes, ponds and reservoirs are full and overflowing.
Lots of soggy bottoms.
Highways and roads are taking a real beating.
It can stop raining now, and thanks for it.

Oh yeah!  Some areas have lost their ground water.  We're starting to look like Texas a couple of years back.

I almost spoke too soon.  We received 10+ inches of rain last night.  Hundreds if not thousands of lightning strikes in the general area.  Water from the street came to within 15 feet of the front door.  Major flooding north of me and near where I work.  I feel very lucky today that everything is okay for me.  Fingers crossed for everyone else.

We had quite a storm go through last night and got lots of water in the yard. Started draining off, but it just rained some more.

We can handle a lot of rain. Alvin still has a record rainfall-
In 1979 Tropical Storm Claudette brought record-breaking rainfall to eastern Texas. In Alvin, 42 inches (1,100 mm) of rain fell in one day, which is the record 24 hour precipitation amount for any location in the United States.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropical_Storm_Claudette_%281979%29

The Trinity River is way above flood stage and the waters are heading towards Houston.
It has 322 feet of elevation to descend before it gets to the Houston Ship Channel.
Something to see.
We are fine here. All the Mallard ducks getting their daily ration of shelled corn.
