Info on a J Deere anvil 19937 salesman sample
« on: January 19, 2016, 07:02:53 PM »
Hey so a guy locally is advertising a salesmans sample anvil marked j Deere 1937. I wasn't aware John Deere made anvils, so I wanted to make sure it wasn't a marketing product of some sort. It's advertised as 4 1/2 inches long.

Any info?
And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

 "Re: J Deere 1937 Anvils / paperweight
I think they are probably knock-offs of a commemorative piece from JD...1937 was the 100th anniversary of the company. I have one right in front of me on my desk, I got it on ebay probly 10 years ago, about $10-15 as I remember...
Does seem like they are getting more common."

If it was a 'real' Deere advertising piece, it would say John Deere and even that wouldn't be a guarantee.  They never used J Deere...of course the Chinese factory making them wouldn't know that.
