What the Heck is This!!
« on: September 22, 2016, 02:01:49 PM »
I am a new member as of this morning. I need some help on figuring out what this item is. I have five of them that are all similar but yet different. I have looked these over a number of times and cannot find a single part number anywhere.

Thanks,Tom

Do they have any markings or numbers? Can we see photos of the others? May help to jog someones mind!
A person who could really read human minds would be privileged to gaze on some correct imitations of chaos.

Can't tell by your pics, but, it almost looks like they screw into the top of the next smaller one in line?

All of the stages screw together making one complete unit. The largest or bottom stage is threaded NPT. Each of the stages have small holes drilled all around the male threaded portion.

For working on hydraulic systems, line caps and plugs, just guessing.

Does it look like a scribe when together?
I'm with Heelspur it's someones shop project. Maybe someone taking machine shop class again at night. I didn't make a scribe had a few already but a 1/4" drift, I made it look like chrome, polish the p**s out of it before and after heat treat.
A bunch of pics (5000+) of tools and projects in our shoppe

It looks like a tool used by plumbers to size threads on various plumbing fixtures. Like the thread where the aerator fits on a faucet.

I bought a plastic display from an Ace Hardware going out of business sale.

It has both the male and female sides.  The holes are to prevent water pressure from backing up.
