ANOTHER WHATS IT

This is marked Crescent  R-212. When I punch the number in all I get is a pair of pliers. What do you think it's for ??

It looks like someone took a standard set of tongue-and-groove pliers and then "shop modified" them with special jaws. I have no idea what they were intended for though.

My friends call me Bob. My wife calls me a lot worse.

Almost looks like it might work for turning large tie rod sleeves.

It may turn a tie rod, but why a round pin?   Am thinking crimper?

I go with some type of special gripping/turning application. I don't see you getting enough force with them to crimp anything that would fit into that size jaw.

Reminds me of some of the odd plierench adaptations.  I think it might be to close a special clamp.
You might say I have a tool collecting problem....

I think the pin spanner is correct.  You could get enough grip in the collar to keep the pin from popping out.

It looks shop made.  Somebody in the toolroom modified the pliers.
Possibly a one-off.  Not a bad idea either.
