My new Thor 7-1/4" Circular Saw
« on: November 06, 2017, 09:38:22 PM »
Thor is my favorite brand of power tool... I tend to snag them whenever I find them at yard sales. Usually they're quite cheap, but they are always overbuilt. This one I paid a bit more than I'd have liked for... But I've never seen a Thor saw before, and it was just too pretty for me to pass up... This beast weighs in at a whopping 15lbs! I replaced the cord, and she works like a champ! Now I can pitch the crappy antique Black and Decker I've been using and use something with some class! (After some strength training...)

What a streamlined beast! I would have had a hard time leaving it.
You might say I have a tool collecting problem....

Thor cast into parts on both sides, they were proud of their product. nice looking saw that you have.

That is really, really cool!  I'd have snapped that up, too!

I have my uncle's 1/4" Thor drill, and use it regularly.

Could you post a picture? I've never seen a small Thor anything XD

I've got one of their hand drills with a 3/4" chuck, and two with 5/8" chucks, but never seen a 1/4"

I buy some of these old tools that look great also, but never plug one in unless I use a ground fault circuit.  About 10 years ago I didn't and it was a seriously shocking experience.

Haha, I'll plug anything in to test it... I'm not scared of electricity XD

Oh man, that catalogue is awesome! Thanks P_Toad! I've never seen that, but it's really cool getting to see some of my tools in there, and that cutaway picture of my circ saw is really cool! I'd love to find one (or more) of those angle grinders! That nibbler! A belt sander! Maybe one of those bench grinders! Gah, so many cool tools in there!

Those prices are insane, too, $200 in 1930s money? These tools really were built to last!

The prices caught my eye, too.   In a nice eye-watering way.

I did note the addresses in the back all have zone numbers and no zip code yet!
