Unusual Pliers
« on: March 15, 2018, 01:30:56 PM »
Hello, I could use some help on this one . Pliers measure 6" long, and the grooves at the business end measure 1/8" wide x 1/2" long. They are most likely used for spreading something. They are stamped Vantage Stainless  Pakistan. They seem to be very well made, I'm hoping they are not a cheap knock-off.  Dental? Jeweler? Fishing??? Thanks, Lou

They look like a specialty pair of forceps.   Most that i have seen use an interlocking latch between the handles to hold them "closed".

This is a more typical pair of what i have seen.

Hello, p_toad. Thanks for the reply, but mine are definitely used for spreading something apart. Sometimes referred to as Separation Pliers, or, Reverse Action Pliers. Still scratching my head trying to find info. Thanks, Lou

They look like distraction pliers.
Stainless usually turns out to be medical or food related. In this case I would think medical.
A person who could really read human minds would be privileged to gaze on some correct imitations of chaos.

Last year I was given a batch of medical forceps and various tweezers, all stainless.  Most were made in Pakistan.

Hello, Guys. Thanks for the input. I'm going with "Distraction Pliers" . These work like an external snap ring pliers. The pivot is set so that when you squeeze the handles, the jaws open. Regards, Lou
