You own a 67-72 Chevy truck? I have a 72 Papaw.

I don't have one anymore. That was a long time ago. After several years of political discussion boards, I got connected to  67-72chevytrucks.com and enjoyed it immensely and became a moderator there and a supporter. Liz and Josh later helped me set up the original Tool Talk back in 2005 or so. Though I don't mod anymore, I am still a member.

I have a 98 GMC Sierra that I bought second hand in 2002. Still have it with a new transmission in 2009 and a new crate engine in 2012.

I don't intend to ever buy a new truck, or even another one unless this one gets totalled. I don't care for the new ones, the many computers in them, and certainly don't want another truck note!

Back in 2005 or so, I was driving a 1984 Ford pickup.  Had a younger friend who had a 5-year-old model and was antsy to get himself a new truck.  Said he wanted one bad.
I advised him to keep his pants on.  Pointed out that by driving my old Ford, I had avoided spending enough money to put one son through college.  He had two young sons, but didn't take my advice.  He had a new pickup within the month.
Lost track of him, but expect he has had several trucks since then.  And made a lot of interest payments.  Hope his boys came out OK.
The ORIGINAL Northwoods.

That's one reason I don't want a new truck. I don't have a note and neither does the wife ( 2007 Dodge caliber ). We need all we earn from SS and Teacher Retirement. We don't waste money, but we are able to help the kids and grandkids and eat out when we want to. I worked 6 years after beginning to collect SS and put most of that in the bank.

I have never had a car payment to a dealer. The most I have ever had was a bank loan for maybe 2-3K that I would pay off in short order. Of course I have never had a new car either. The closest to a new car I have ever owned was a 1999 Grand Marquis that I bought in 2012 that had 21K miles on it. It still had the new car smell.
