Obviously expensive bevel. but who made it?

Lots of brass and rosewood or other exotic wood but no marks.  Wonder who made it?

I have had quite a few similar bevels (non-Stanley, usually made in CT).  The markings were often lightly stamped on the wood.

Yes, checked the blade and the wood, cannot see anything that might be a mark.

I know we've all had this thought from time to time:

"Who in the world would make such a cool tool and not put their name on it?"

Maker's name / mark ( a) lightly stamped in the brass & subsequently wore off  (b) on paper label which promptly wore off  (c) was on the box which was used to light the stove in the workshop the first frosty morning  (d) was made by a true craftsman for his own use & outlived him by a century & still going strong. (take your pick)

I recognize that tool, It's a really cheaply made Chinese knockoff. Send it to me and I'll just throw it in with the rest of my cheap knock offs. ;-)
VWs to D10s, I've fixed em.
