Craftsman combination wrench finish?
« on: June 19, 2019, 04:18:00 PM »
These wrenches were in a box lot (not the long plated one).  The finish on the top two and the bottom one must have some kind of plating as they were dirty but not rusty.  Could they be some type of war finish?  Also, did Craftsman make long and short combination wrenches?  The sizes from the top are 1", 15/16", 7/8" and 3/4".

The wrenches on the right were likely made towards the end of the war and the ones on the left shortly thereafter.

I notice that your end of the war wrenches have codes on them, the three dark wrenches I have all have a large "0" on them.

Other than the V, the late war codes are a bit of a puzzle. It could be that Sears hadn’t made a final decision on who was going to be their wrench supplier, but obviously Moore Drop Forge was the winner in the end.
