Newly formed tool addiction
« on: October 26, 2019, 08:04:19 PM »
I have always been a firm believer in having the right tool for the job. My motto has always been "I bust my butt so I can afford the tools that keep me from having to bust my butt". I recently decided to obtain a handful of rusty of wrenches just to build a display in the garage. The first purchase was a bulk lot of 22 wrenches and I quickly started researching the history of each manufacturer and dates. That lit a fire to learn more about early American tool history and the addiction erupted.

Oh my friend.... You have taken the first step down a long winding slippery, but very interesting slope.  Howdy from Houston!
You might say I have a tool collecting problem....

Hi winston427, welcome from sunny Florida. You are definitely on a "slippery slope", the good thing is that you have lots of company on your slide. Don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions, there are many knowledgable people here.

Alloy artifacts was the first site I found to do research. A lot of great information there but some tools I have picked up are not found on that site. Thus the reason I am here to broaden the knowledge base.

Since this group is more geared toward the antique wrenches, can anyone suggest a site for history and research on antique pliers? As my addiction erupted I found myself picking up more types of tools and wanting to learn about the makers and history of those as well.

I’ll admit I’m an addict, but I’m not going to any meetings. Unless it’s a swap meet.

Potential addict, confirmed collection gene carrier, and willing enabler when given the opportunity.
