« on: July 09, 2020, 02:49:23 PM »
pointed ends, 90* bend at each end no residue or  where they have been beaten with hammers. about 16-20" long  big 1 is right at 1" diameter metal, smaller 3/4" They feel like they have been harden, but haven't done a punch test.
What are they used for?

I would speculate on dogs for logs, to hold them still while working them, but the points seem to be headed in the wrong direction: most of the pictures I've seen, the dogs are U-shaped.

I can see those being used when building a log house or cabin, position the log over the last course, scribe it,then roll it over and dog it in place with these bars with  the scribe marks facing up, cut out your grove and then roll it back into place.
