Obviously a grinder of something????
« on: September 19, 2020, 03:38:50 PM »
Bought this at auction today and it is a grinder of some sort.  I have never seen anything like it so have no idea what it grinds or does something else?  First picture overall size is almost 12 inches and the handle is very heavy.  Second picture shows the square end teeth on the roller and the guides for the teeth.  Third picture shows the roller removed (everything is very heavy and strong).  Forth picture shows the hole on the end where something comes out.  And last picture shows the board that it was mounted on and the carved section to allow something to fall into a container.  Cannot find any markings on it

Messed up, the forth picture is the last one.

Have been looking on line and found it on e-bay, it is a tobacco grinder.  Picked it up for $5.00, so I did okay.  The handle was not attached, it was missing the set screw, but I had one the correct size.

That's neat.  I was going to suggest an ice cube crusher, although it seems too heavy duty for that.

so you can put it your pipe?
Find a source for some cured tobacco leaves...invite a friend who smokes over...take him out to the shop and demonstrate the machine, feeding the leaves in and getting the tobacco out...say to him, "Put that in your pipe and smoke it."

Your friend needs to be the right age to understand how much work you did to set up that punch line, though.

Unfortunately I don't have a friend who smokes a pipe, they are all cigar smokers.
