Probably why it was never used. The poor slob got to the jobsite and couldn't get it out of the truck...
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

I'm a big fella, but I'd hate to have to manhandle that!

In my misspent youth, I spent a few months installing overhead doors.  We were on one job, in a lumber storage building at the Masonite operation up in Ukiah (north of San Francisco), at the same time as the sprinkler installers.  They were using conventional pipe wrenches the same length.  Two guys, one of whom would stand on one wrench to hold it in place while the other did the grunting.  Every hour or so, they'd trade jobs.  I was dripping sweat; they weren't.  I was making a little more than minimum wage; they were making just a tad bitty more.

I'll vouch for this - I'm a rather large man myself and it was all I could do to handle it's younger sibling - the 6' version.   I'm guessing there are not a lot of these 7' ers laying around.

From the photo, it appears someone tried to kill this wrench with a .30-.30. That they missed is evident from the bullet hole left in the van.
