Our daughter Amanda is graduating from Augustana College in the Quad Cities this weekend and we are very proud of her for sticking through 4 hard years of work for her degree in History.  Might find a yard sale or two in Moline Saturday, but once my brother in law flies in, it will be her weekend.

The neighborhood closest to my place of employment had their neighborhood sale this afternoon and since none of the houses are over 10 years old, you don't expect to find much more than baby clothes etc, but last year I found a house that had some tools and I ended up splurging for a pair of acetylene torch regulators and never used them. This year however, the same house had a 25 cent table with a lot of crap and a few keepers.  $5 later the fix was satisfied.  See General discussion for more details.......tease.....

Thanks.  I forgot to mention that the house in which I found the goodies, the mother of the son  was doing the selling of the tool bits and she said her son has a job cleaning out repossessed homes and he pretty much gets to keep whatever he finds in there.  Down side is that he has to dispose of all junk.

Not a big downside.  Way back when, I got a job cleaning out the garage of an old house here.  Got paid 100 1980 bucks for  my trouble.  There were a number of good things there, but what I remember just now was a lap wheel for stone cutting, and one of those carry around wooden tool chests.  This one had belonged to someone who built the Liberty ships, and held a somewhat peculiar saw designed to cut the cork insulation sheets used on the Liberties.

Congrats to your daughter, hope she does well with her field of history.

Garge sales in new house areas rarely  work out for me, every now and then they do but not often.
And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
