Fruits(?) of my labor
« on: June 24, 2012, 07:56:11 PM »
Black-eyed peas from the garden with fresh seasoning pork from the property, hot buttermilk cornbread, corn I had to fight the crows over this morning, and pound cake from fresh eggs out of the coupe - with blackberries from the pastures on top - that was for dinner (and the wife is gone traveling).

AND this is preserved for tomorrow:

I'm not sure how I ever come to leave the south for so long - but I'm sure glad I'm back.

OK.
I officially hate you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Darn-it, you had to put all that food into my head.   Now, I'm searching for food that I won't find.  Good for you----- you have some "real" food!  I'm jealous!
cheers,

I'm fortunate to have preserved what I have.  Much like you, I have "lost" my garden this year to the weather.  This is our second year of extreme drought conditions.  It's frustrating - especially when your lifestyle limits foods not preserved naturally.
