Who made these?
« on: May 04, 2013, 02:45:45 PM »
I bought this nice set of DOE wrenches from amertrac, and would like to know who made them.
SAMSON  U.S.A. and the sizes are all the marks. Nicely finished wrenches that fit together well other than one is missing.
1/4 x 5/16
3/8 x 7/16 - MISSING
1/2 x 9/16
5/8 x 3/4
13/16 x 7/8

I have a pair of tin snips marked Samson somewhere. I was unable to find a maker.

Samson in NZ is current trademark* for someone there selling various tools.
Don't think papaw's is from them tho.

(etc)

Papaw's say USA on them tho...

I think Samson was a Union Hardware brand.  That being said, I was unaware that they made wrenches, so maybe a different company?

I have a couple (maybe a few) tools marked Samson .   The one I remember distinctly is a rather nicely made brace.  It would be nice to have more information on the mark.

Under the history of Peck, Stow and Wilcox on the rose antique tools site, Samson is listed as one of the brand names used by them on squares, braces and augers.

Probably not related, but in the 20s, a Samson farm tractor was marketed.  Was built by W.C.Durant, of Durant-Star-Flint automobile fame, what do you mean you never heard of them?   Doubt if a tractor came with a neat nesting set like that.
