Marsh M5 PLANE
« on: July 25, 2011, 10:05:10 PM »
Got this  Marsh plane today at auction. Has a small amount of oxidation in spots and Tote is cracked. Knob doesn't look quite right but it may be original. May have to buff it a little but another project is always welcome.

Marsh 5 after a little tlc. It will never be mint but its a good user now. It would have been a better job if the dim bulb who glued the tote had got it in alignment first. Didn't want to damage tote further so just sanded it back into alignment. It was only off fore and aft and side to side. Borrowed that dim bulb phrase from someone on here speaking about a forefather. I liked it and plan to incorporate into my vocabulary. It aptly describes many people who's handiwork I see from time to time.

>Borrowed that dim bulb phrase...

I walked into a shop years ago, and the fellow there kept calling another guy 'fourty'.
He didn't look old enough for that to be his age, so, I asked, is that his name?.

No, it's his nickname.

How did he get that nickname?

He's a 40 watt bulb in a 100 watt socket..

oh......
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

That's a great job bringing back the Marsh.  I wouldn't have thought you could get it so pretty.  User... them's the best sort!
