A couple more for the Club
« on: September 25, 2013, 03:17:48 PM »
I've been looking for the Boardman's Patent wrench for awhile now, and when the opportunity presented its self at Donnelly's Nashua, NH auction, I took advantage of it.  It is in reasonably good shape, although it does have a few spots of missing nickel.

The Hjorth Lightning wrench was a bonus, as it was in a box lot and I had not seen it before bidding.  One of those "blind pig finding an acorn moments".  It is in reasonably good condition.

Thread revival! I'm trying to educate myself on the Hjorth "Lightning Wrench" pliers, so I'm searching through old threads looking for info.
Looks like you got a good one there Mike. Most Hjorth pliers found today are stamped with the 1903 patent date. Yours is stamped with the 1896 date, which is a lot harder to find. Congrats.
My friends call me Bob. My wife calls me a lot worse.

If I would have been actively looking for that patent date, I’d still be looking. I got lucky .
I went and looked at them after Bob's post and found that they  looked much better than the picture. Most of the nickel remains and is bright and shiny; not dull like the picture shows. I think it is the only pair I have now. I did have a pair of larger ones some time ago. But I’m pretty sure I sold them.

Good luck on your hunt! And thanks Lou.
