Just came across this old B&D on eBay. My wrist hurts just looking at it.

... circa 1914...?

Good bet that the lower nameplate will carry a series of dates for patents applying to this drill.  The pistol grip and trigger switch patent was issued in 1917, IIRC.  It looks like it's missing the rear handle, BTW.  I did a quick search on eBay without finding this particular one.  Here's a handle like I think it should have: http://www.ebay.com/itm/D-HANDLE-FOR-VINTAGE-ANTIQUE-BLACK-DECKER-DRILLS-/321216273842.
