International Mfg Co adjustable wagon wheel wrench
« on: November 15, 2013, 10:43:37 PM »
This wrench was on ebay recently. It was not in the greatest condition. But I thought it might be a diamond in the rough. A past paint job had made the wrench impossible to adjust and was glued shut. I soaked the wrench in lacquer thinner and finally got it apart. The bolt for the handle was broken off. It was drilled out and threads cleaned. It was too clean under the old paint so I repainted flat black and highlighted the lettering. A wood handle donated from an old file fit perfectly. I'm happy with the finished product. Here's a before, during and after picture.

Great recovery!
It is satisfying to rescue an old wrench like that.

That's a nice wrench and a great job refurbishing it.
I see a #2 on it so does that indicate there are other sizes?

Carl, so you're the one who got that.  I kinda wondered who snagged it.  Great job putting it back in order.

I had wanted one for awhile. When I seen it didn't sell the first time for a higher price I made him a deal. I took a chance at $35 hoping it wasn't a lost cause. I'm not one to paint wrenchs but this one just didn't have any patina under the gobbs of thick black paint. I think all in all it turned out great and should have some true value again.

Nice work Carl.  I'm suffering pangs of wrench envy.

I know that feeling. Every time I see a Casaday cut out or one of Rustcollectors G.L. James buggy wrenchs.

Looks good. Nice to see a wrench back to workable condition.
