Title: Large Crank Handle Marked 48 to 52 Turns a Minute
Post by: wvtools on February 22, 2014, 01:38:57 PM
Is this a cream separator handle?  Or something else?

Thanks,

John

It's probably a  cream separator handle but I don't know what brand.

Cream separator is most likely -- The primary gear in our DeLaval had a ball bearing & a gong inside -- once you got the crank up to the right speed centrifugal force kept the ball bearing from ringing the gong any more.  It took a good strong pull to overcome that first inertia and get things moving but once you got up to speed it was more boredom than tedium to keep the thing going.
