Title: Frozen Estate Sale finds
Post by: dimwittedmoose51 on February 26, 2014, 10:32:48 AM
Found a couple of firsts in this estate sale that was a mile or so from the house.  Standing in line outside to get in is no fun at 18 degrees and wind blowing, especially when they didn't advertise any tools to begin with.  Never seen an SK ratchet shaft snapped off, but the 1/2" drive Frankenstein SK got ground /rounded off and made into a Stubby, as the other half of the handle was no where to be found.    The teeth and pawl look like they've had a ton of torque applied to them as the innards are not perfect, so I'll have to hunt for a rebuild kit for this one to become a worker.  cosmetically, it's sound however. My first Herbrand adjustable too.  They had a nice 1/3 hp Craftsman box grinder I grabbed for $20, but I sold it pretty quickly on CL since I have 3 others.

From the top there's a Pennens 8" adj.
12" Williams Superadjustable
J-12 Thorsen 3/8" flexover (for Oily)
12" Herbrand adjustable
Diamond tin snips
Old Auto kit missing the small sockets
 mini Hong Kong adj.
Craftsman Depth gauge
SK Frankenstein slide button 1/2" rat(half of it anyway)
Excelite figure 8 driver
3 OTC DOE's

There was little to nothing at the Tuesday auction in town, but did find an old pair o Vise grips(pre 1958 w/o the release trigger) and avintage 1 3/8" SK combo wrench to add to the collection.

Crawling back into the cave....

Dedication hell, 18 degrees and wind blowing is minimally 50 bucks an hour or my butt ain't leaving the heated truck.

Definitely a surcharge + wind benefit.
