The best wag I saw was some kind of adjustable pry bar. Me, I got nothing.

Adjustable pry bar makes sense, maybe railroad related, for prying up the rails?

I guess, "Maxwell House coffee can," wasn't what you meant, right?

Interesting critter.  The foot seems thick for a pry bar.

I think Skip is on the right track, it can be set for different angles so better to get the best push on damaged section.

depending on the pipe thread size it's either PortOpower or Hein Werner.  HW would be 3/4" NPT and PP would be 1ΒΌ" NPT.
