Does anyone recognize this strap wrench? Instead of the strap being fixed in place, the handle screws in to hold it. It can be easily removed and replaced.
Someone on Ebay was asking me if I knew anything more about it. The only markings are those shown in the 3rd and 4th pictures.
Thanks,
John

I'd say it is OLD!!! (sarcasm face here)

Rusty,
The wrench in the patent you referenced is similar, but more complicated than the one I have. The Dufford one has a rod inside the handle that pushes on the pressure plates that hold the strap. The one I have, the handle turns and the conical end of it pushes on the pressure plate.

This design with the screw-in handle that clamps the end of the strap was originated by REED of Erie, PA.
I had an item in a past MVWC Newsletter that had an ad for the wrench, but cannot put my finger on it just now. Most of the REED type strap wrenches I've seen had no markings.
