Saw these on eBay and thinking they look unusual I made a winning bid.

Dave
socket set
They are just what the seller stated-
Quotevintage collectable hexagon drive socket set in wooden box
As to worth-We would have to know the exchange rate to USD and who they were made by.
Google "Vintage hex socket set"
Need to see the sides of the sockets. The knurling will help ID the set. I bet they are Duro/Indestro made.

The clue being "Made in USA"
The ratchet and plugs look like Duro and the sockets look like a mixed bag. Side shots of the sockets would be the tell all.
Could also be Bog Mfg.

I think the sockets are a mixed bag too.
Did you notice the sockets where the broached metal makes a star? Should be a give-a-way for someone in here.......
Chilly
Well the socket set arrived today. A bit of a mixed bag with many different makes and variable condition.
Lets see if you can identify them!
The first set contains a few doubles but generally seem in good condition:-(http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b392/246gts/IMG_1889_zps51e3576a.jpg) (http://s23.photobucket.com/user/246gts/media/IMG_1889_zps51e3576a.jpg.html)

Dave
Here are my thoughts on what you have
pic 1 and 2 New Britain's None Better brand
pic 3 Also New Britain's None Better brand but a different variation
pic 4 Walden Worcester
pic 5 2nd and 3rd from top Bog Mfg, unsure about the remainder for now
pic 6 and 7 Duro ratchet
Just as an aside, I came across a Brit-Tool socket set with a some what similar ratchet in it
Does the socket in the 5th picture say 5-8W ??

Yes
How odd. I wonder if it is Whitworth?
If so, it is the first hex drive I have ever seen...
I could be wrong but some look like they have been wire wheeled.

Looks like a smart use of band knurling.
