Title: Hey guys I need help with the value of these vintage SK-Wayne/Billings
Post by: nickstools on June 17, 2014, 07:22:04 PM
Hey guys Dowd tools sent me here and said you guys could help. I need help knowing what the value of these vintage tools are. They're probably from the 40's-50's or so and in excellent shape. My grandfather was very rich and left me his house when he passed and I'm just now going through the garage. I don't need them because I have my own Snap On tools. These things are amazing for the age. The one set of SK-Wayne wrenches looks as though it was never used. They're all SK-Wayne or Billings VitaAlloy. I know this is general discussion and once I figure out the value I will sell them in the sales board. Thanks for any help! I really appreciate it. Aain these will be for sale. I can take more pictures if you need them. Just ask. First picture is of SK-Wayne tools and the second is all Billings VitaAlloy with the blue tin case.

Welcome to the forum!
S-K tools of any era are solid workhorses. S-K Wayne's in NOS condition would be worth a bit more to a collector, not because they're any better, but just because they're less common. Only being so marked from 1964 thru 1969.

My dad turned me on to S-K. I have a small set of Wayne's going - good tools.

Hey guys thank you so much for the reply's! I love how these old tools have that old tool smell. They really are cool and you can tell they don't build them like this anymore. Any idea of value?  I'd really like to sell them to someone that collects them and will treasure them as my grandfather did. Once I figure out a value, or get a decent offer, I will put them in the For Sale board and maybe one of you guys could own them ;)

eBay is probably the best place for you to get an idea of what similar sets have sold for; you should check the "completed listings"...

Both sets of tools are likely from the sixties and the Billings set appears (the photo is quite small) to be Wright production. bonneyman is correct when he says the SKs may have a slightly higher collector value because of the Wayne era. I'd guess there are relatively few Billings collectors.

Here's some pics of the small set of Wayne's I have. In a restored box.
They are nice tools.
