Title: What is the correct name of this wrench
Post by: mjzae on July 15, 2014, 06:17:34 PM
Hi everyone,

I am trying to discover the proper name of this wrench.  A nut would fit into each of the 3 slots and they would loosen or tighten together as the user turned the handle.

Thanks alot,

Mike

This confuses me. I don't see any way the three openings could tighten or loosen at the same time. Is there some mechanism in the handle we can't see in the picture?

The long part is the handle, and a nut would fit into each of the 3 little openings.  You would then push or pull on the handle and all 3 nuts would either tighten or loosen at the exact same time.  (Each nut would turn independently)

This was used on the hub of a very high end carriage at the turn of the century.

Maybe the hole in the center fits over a rod of some sort and the other 3 openings over nuts of some sort and its used for applying tension to loosen, tighten, or change something on a piece of equipment.
Just guessing.

The hole in the center has no purpose.  I wish I could find a picture online of how it works.  Very very simple, but very interesting.

I'm confused. I would like to see it in action. Interesting

I also would like to see it work on three nuts at the same time. How is it different from other three openings wrenches? It is similar to clevis pin wrenches that incorporated a clevis hitch pin and wrench opening or openings.

What you are explaining does not work in this dimension.  In this existence a solid object cannot rotate around three points on the same plane at once.

Perhaps you are explaining an action wherein the wrench engages three points that all rotate around a single, central, shaft?

Ditto, I am thinging it is a hub nut wrench that grabs 3 tire bolts and turns the hub to tighten an axle nut..
