Picked this up at a local auction. Patent date Oct 19, 1915. I check the patent records and it shows this very type of hoe. Anybody ever seen one or have any info on this old hoe? Is this what todays square style hoes are made after?

Have a couple older -- blacksmith made. Yours is its own style; it's not the origin of the big square hoe, but a specialty hoe.
Pictures didn't show up right away for me. I see them now.
I haven't seen a store bought model like that, have two similar my father bought used, years ago he called a plantation hoe. This very much resembles blacksmith made hoes, created by cutting a farmers disc blade in thirds or quarters, and welding pipe on for a socket. Put in a handle and use it. I would.
That does look like a disc from a farmers disc harrow. Those make the best tool stand bases.

I would think this is factory made with a patent date stamped in it. I'm pretty sure a smith didn't make this one, but can see it modeled after one
