Tool Talk

Several hundred estate tools in the last month, but last Saturday was the best brag. My favorite type of sale - lots of furniture, housewares, and collectibles but only two boxes of tools. Sold by the box.
Several of these are unknowns to me, I'll be posting questions in other forums.

Tools sold by the box; it don't get no better than that! Looks like a couple of fancy spirit levels near the top of your first picture too.

I like the looks of that bent wratchet in the 3rd pic of the original post, all the way to the right. And the saw in the last picture.
Pretty sweet haul you got there!

#4, but I have an issue with the sweetheart blade. I think this plane is an earlier type.

Lots of good stuff. Is there a name on the ignition kit roll?
-
Nice grabs! Those old spirit levels look really cool.

That crosshatch background fill was popular with Union , and they had a bad habit of not stamping well...

No name on roll, just olive drab. Great condition. Three of the wrenches had names of manufactures they fit on, one has a broken tip:

Those are for Magnetos . Nice set
-
Man! I once went to an estate sale with everything in boxes for $2 each box, but the boxes didn't have anything like that kind of riches! I did score a nice Stanley clamp-on vise that made the trip worthwhile. You scored.
-
I see some great stuff in that pile Chilly!
-
Nice find. Great chisel, love the handle shape.
-
Chilly, the 2 pictures of the first "spirit levels" on the first page remind me of a mason's level, with concave ends to hold a string-wrap that'd be let out and anchored at each end to align, say, a brick.

Bear,
They are regular levels. The larger is 9" long and quite heavy. It is a plumb & level type.
The smaller one is 6" or so and is also pretty heavy.
The Stanley line levels I have, and have seen, are about 3/4" square and maybe 3-4" long.
I should dig out a group of examples for infp.
