I think I've seen a discussion about this double plier thing before, but I can't recall what it was used for?

In French it's a 'chien (à montrer) de cordonnier' - in English 'double lasting clamp' - used to pull the upper of a shoe tight over the last when attaching to the sole....

The ones wo handles were common is Missouri when there were many shoe mfrs. They were also called Bear claws and N----- paws. Always thought they were neat. at one time had sveral. Chuck Garrett
