Hello everyone. I'm new here and this is my first post.I have some old jig/saber saws I would like to date.
First is an sears saber saw.The numbers on it are 315 6635 5316. The other is an craftsman jigsaw with
the numbers 315 27940 956. I hope someone here can help me identify the age of these saws. Thanks

Welcome to Tool Talk!
Our biggest power tool collector recently passed away, but I bet someone here will know.

the 315 prefix was Diehl, they later became part of Ryobi (1988), Sears kept the prefix the same, so 315 can also mean Ryobi...
The all aluminum case Sabre saws are from around the 1950's
There is very little info on stuff made by Diehl, I suspect they were only a Sears supplier for a short period of time for small power tools...

Thanks. They are both indeed all aluminum bodied. I replaced both cords and they work great. One is a barrel grip and fits
my hands well.I may start using it instead of my Bosch ......
