How do people keep their wrenchs so nice ? Saw this at auction today and knew it had to be coming home with me. The roll is in good shape and only one wrench had a spot of rust on it. Haven't tried to find age yet but wasn't made yesterday. Don't think it has been used much if at all and all wrenchs from 1/4 to 1 1/16 are present.

Bonus is price was right for cheap charlie ( under $10)

Holy cats they are nice, pretty sure I know how they keep them so nice, they don't use them.
Man, you're killing me! $10? WOW!
Might be the newest You Suck Award winner!
Excellent Looking Roll of Beauties Jim! As you know, the first thing to go south is the roll itself, and this one looks in great shape! Nice Find Indeed!

How do people keep their wrenchs so nice ?
It's very easy; don't use them.
Yes Fins they are select steel. Actual cost was $9 but it wasn't all bargains at this auction. I had to pay $4 for the Stanley 100 miter vise at this auction but they did throw in a old vise with the miter vise. Actually they coudn't get a bid on the regular vise and threw the Stanley in to get a bid. Kind of an end of sale item. The standard vise is a Shepard which I haven't seen before. Looks like it had an anvil end on back which is broken off,but vise works fine. I think grinding the fracture face smooth and a coat of implement enamel will give me a good working outdoor vise. Anyone have any info or photo on Shepard vise;would like to know what broke off.
Shepard is listed as a brand name for Prentiss Vise co, NY
Date range is wide, continues after aquisition by Union in the 60's...
Possibly as far back as 1912 or before...
Thanks Rusty Found P.V. Co. when I did a little cleaning. Now I wish it was in better shape. Its 4 inch Prentiss vice co.

Grumble. $4 for a Stanley 100? Complete? I'd snap that one up in a hot New York second! It would make my day, just to have one with a base!
Jim is feeding us a big line of hooey here. He got thsoe wrenches for $9 because he convinced the auctioneer that Indestro was Japanese for "devil sticks" and that pretty much stopped any further bidding above the $9 level. Great Find BTW.

Isn't that what Indestro stands for ? By the way Prentiss evidently used name of some of its inventors as model numbers hence (Shepard). Anyone know what patent he held ? Didn't find anything in my amateurish search but would like to see his patent.
Am I the only one that noticed that the blacksmith logo is very similar to the early plomb blackmith logo?
