This is a laminated whatsit. It is 8" long and a little under 7/16" in thickness,Both ends have the same type of openings which appears identical and it's held together with 7 rivets. Can anybody out help me determine its'use?

Sorry folks. I just got a new camera and I better go back and read the manual. These are NOT the pics I intended to post. This is the Sellwood bridge in Portland Oregon that was moved in one piece downriver about 150 ft. It is being kept in use while a new bridge is being built where this one previously sat. Quite an engineering feat to move the old bridge. Google Sellwood bridge in Portland Or for the full story.

Hope these are the right ones.

Thanks Papaw. I was a member then, but must have missed that post. I never would have figured it out without help.

Thanks for the bridge pictures! We had a nearby single lane steel deck bridge across the NY State Barge Canal that was moved three villages over to serve as a replacement bridge for Howland Island, a small river island community. Our bridge was replaced with the larger two lane and newer steel deck Belgium bridge from maybe 20 miles NW of here.

My favorite pawn shop called me one day about a pair of those. I didn't recognize them then. Had to go home and search the internet.

With the large amount of scrap metal thieves in Portland, the bridge probably only has 7 rivets left in it.
