Thank you guys.

All the countless hours watching her were extremely difficult. It was times like two in the morning sitting outside her room making sure she didn't wake up thinking she had to bake a birthday cake. It was sitting there an she would tell me dad is coming home from delivering oil to a farmer. It was the times she would yell that there's a stranger in her house. The times I was told I was stealing her laundry, but actually washing it. There were a few times she was physically agrisive, an many she would be verbally. It was just a lot of times.

Ultimately I know for the 7 monthes I watched her I did all I could. I just wish I could of done more but I know thats not possible. I feel guilty I left an no longer lived at home to take care of her all day an just watched her a few times a week, but moved back when she left. I knew I couldnt do it but it doesn't make it any easier thinking back. There's a million things I could of done differently but it's done. I gave it my all, an loved her the best I could an treated her the best I could.

I will love her forever an never forgot her. My faith personally leads me to believe she is in heaven resting with my grandpa.

Life is like live music: there'll always be a missed note, but the overall performance is what matters, and the most important part of the performance is how much heart it's got.  You acted from your love for her, and everything you did was infused by that.

I am sorry for your loss.  Losing our elders is always hard.  I still remember, vividly, when my Grandpa died (50 years ago this year!).  I was 16, and his was the first death of a family member for me.  I spent a lot of time in my room struggling with it.  Now, I realize that he'll always be part of me, and I see some of his lessons - very subtle lessons indeed - present in my daily life.

You were willing and able to spend time honoring her and supporting the most dignified transition she could possibly have.  You already realize, and you will realize even more as time goes by, that this time, as difficult as it often was, was a blessing for her and for you.  A lot of young people feel they don't have the time; that you made the choice you did is a testament to who she was, and who you are.

That's a beautiful photograph.  Her face is so sweet, and she's standing next to a good looking guy.

Neil,

No regrets, we're all figuring things out as we go. I think it is ok to laugh at the things a confused oerson does. It is better than crying, for sure.

You are a good guy. Never feel bad about how you helped. You were there, that's the bottom line.

My deepest condolences for your loss.

Larry

My condolences Nola, I'm sure she is speaking proudly of you and how you cared for her in her last times on Earth as she gets back together with the people who shared her life.

You did well by her.

My deepest sympathies, especially for making the decision you did.  My mother and I had to make the same decision, and four years later, my sister and I had to make the same decision with our mother.  I know how difficult it was.  But "at peace" is crucial.  You did do the right thing.

Thank you for posting her picture.  I see her face, and just maybe a big reason you have turned out to be the valuable person you are.
