Found this at a junk shop, the only stamping is what looks like 1 lb. but hammer is closer to 2.0 or 2.5 lbs. Almost looks like a 3.5 lb. ball peen that's been turned down on a lathe. Any idea of type name, or usage?

Is it steel? Does a magnet stick to it? It has the appearance of lead.

We call that an engineer's hammer around here.
Used like any peen, except there isn't a peen side, just 2 flst faces.
