This is a B&G made in Germany.

The one end looks like a screwdriver as you said but I think the other pointed side may have got broken if not then I have no idea.
Perhaps they envisioned applications where you'd want a wedge to form a gap, or start forcing two surfaces apart. Only way to know for sure is find an ad or "how to use the tool" type instruction in a textbook.
It's not all that useful, but it looks like an awl to me.
