Title: Ladheze Adjustable
Post by: HeelSpur on June 04, 2015, 10:34:10 AM
Anybody recognize this wrench? Its 12 inches long.
Bottom pic looks like it has a mouse face.

That's a very odd wrench. I know nothing else about it
Thanks for sharing the photos

My buddy had stopped by with some tools that he bought for $3 a piece and this was one of them. Got some pics of it before he left. One of the others was an 8" perfect handle pipe wrench in beautiful shape.

I have seen that mark before but I can't recall where or on what. I hate when that happens.

It looks like a UK shifter, (adjustable). There is a 7 inch one on eBay that I spotted the other day. I'm not familiar with the mark.

There are a couple of U.S. wrench patents by Emile Lacheze (Dijon, France )  (841,986 granted Jan 22, 1907 & 888,306 granted May 19, 1908).
Other examples of this "Clyburn spanner" style wrench with LACHEZE and a large cat face (is it a lion or a tiger?) have turned up so either they were imported at some point, or people were bringing them to the U.S. as souvenirs.  My search for more information is severely hampered by not knowing French.

So that does say La(c)heze. We couldn't decide if it was a C,G, or a D that had a nick in it. Thanks for the info I'll pass it along.

Now that you mention it, it does look like a cat face.
