Any idea what this could have been used for. Very old, all blacksmith made. Spikes are too long and thin to be used on ice. Last loop is open to connect both sides.

still have an out house, but phone books are preferred!
the lawyer section is always the 1st to get used!
since the 1970's combines have been chopping them up, next to none left from the combines knocking over the stalks.

Thanks to all the replies. I've seen different fruit/veggie dryers over time and they were always built like a rigid type rack with spikes, never saw one hinged. Mystery solved on this one.
