Title: Israel Kinney patent adjustable wrench
Post by: rustcollector on October 04, 2015, 05:11:21 PM
Israel Kinney patent adjustable wrench. Patent # 250,367. Made by E.G. Felthousen of Buffalo NY.

I bought it thinking it was a NY wrench, turns out it's not. At least wasn't patented by a NY resident. Once I can determine a value I'll most likely move it along to somebody that has more interest in it than I do now. This is a different variant than Stan used on the DATAMP picture. I'm thinking it's a very early example since it looks more like the patent picture than the one on DATAMP. It's also marked with "NO. 1", meaning more than 1 size was made perhaps?

Could be one of the most useless type wrenches I've ever seen.

It does look like it would be annoying to use but I still would have bought it just for the couriosity factor.

I bet they didn't sell many. Can't see someone recommending it to a friend.
BUT , I would probably buy it if price was right, nice oddity

yes, if the price was right, it would have followed me home.

it is like many tool we have in our collections, "not user friendly-but interesting to study."

This one looks like it might be an early production or special run with the markings hand stamped -- or perhaps they only made the fancy design in the larger sizes.

Very nice. I was admiring those wrenches for the neat mechanism and was surprised to see the place of manufacture. I'll have to keep an eye out.
